As we head into fall and harvest begins, September is a great time to review the basics of soil sampling. When it comes to soil sampling, the phrase “you cannot manage what you do not measure” is all too accurate. 

As our summer grazing season dwindles down, now is a favorable time to get a head start on the 2025 season. Thistles and other biennial and perennial weeds are soon to begin to prepare for winter by sending nutrients and energy back down to the roots. The translocation to the roots of fall herbicide applications by products like DuraCor, will provide excellent long-term weed control. I hope you were able to relax and enjoy the Labor Day weekend. September has been fairly mild the last few years, so here’s to hoping Mother Nature cuts us some slack again this year. 
Since the summer officially ends September 22nd, now would be a great time to replace that nasty filter and give your furnace a test run to see if it ignites. If it doesn’t, contact your heating contractor to get your furnace checked out. (After you assure yourself that there is fuel in the tank.)
