September Energy News
I hope you all had a fantastic August. Although we had a few days of hot weather toward the end of the month, cooler days are coming. It’s less than 120 days until winter. Soon we...
I went fishing in the U.P. of Michigan over the Memorial Day weekend with a few army buddies. We make the trip annually and I believe this year was the most expensive. We didn’t make it 2 minutes on the interstate when a turkey flew into the windshield of my buddy’s motor home. The butterball destroyed the windshield. We went with Plan B, which was me driving my F150 and pulling my boat. One of my boat tires disintegrated on the way up and the other one on the way back. The good news is the fish were biting but so were the mosquitos.
June is always a busy month for your propane division. We expect to contract another 7-8 million gallons with our customers this year during the month of June. As I write this newsletter, I’ve got about half of that volume purchased from our suppliers. Prices will be lower this year than last. Once again this past winter, truck prices rose above the contract price so contracting your propane was once again a good decision.
I get the question every year. Should I contract? And every year, the answer is yes. Don’t take the risk of propane prices increasing as they normally do each winter. We offer several different types of contracts. If you’re able to prepay, that is the best option as it will get you the lowest price. If you have some unforeseen bills like a turkey flying through your windshield and you can’t afford to prepay, a booking deposit of 10 cents per gallon is a nice option. We also offer our Fixed Price Monthly Payment Program, which locks in your price and we figure out a monthly payment for you. And finally, the Cap Advantage, which allows you to lock in a price and if the price falls during the contract period, your price drops as well.
The contracts have a new look this year. I think you’ll like it. It’s easier to read and I feel the layout looks more attractive as well. Contracts will be in the mail June 9th and will be due June 30th.
The Fixed Price Monthly Payment Program renews automatically and the confirmation with new monthly payments were sent out at the end of May. The Cap Advantage also renews automatically at the end of July. If you want to choose a program other than these two, please call one of our offices and they will send a contract to you. If you want to remain enrolled, no need to contact us.
All propane customers should receive our annual safety mailing, either separately or with your propane contract. Please read it over with your family so you know what to do in case of an emergency. Everyone should know how to turn their propane tank off in case of emergency and what to do if you smell gas. If you haven’t received one, please give your local energy office a call.
Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there. Thank you for your business.
