Propane Tank

August 2025

I hope you had an enjoyable 4th of July and were able to spend some time with friends and family. It’s always nice when it falls on a Friday or Monday so that we get a three-day weekend out of the deal. Now that August is here and summer is winding down, keep up the tempo of cookouts and family outings while the weather cooperates.

Those hot days we experienced in July made me think about cooler weather, which made me think about cold weather, which made me think about propane. If reading that last sentence helped you to realize that you forgot to send in your winter contract, it’s not too late. Before you send it back to us, call your local Premier energy office to ensure that the price is the same. Because if there is one thing you can count on in energy markets, it’s volatility. A propane contract will help protect you against market spikes.

Speaking of contracts, keep in mind that we also offer contracts on diesel fuel that we deliver to farms and businesses. That may be an option for you if you think that diesel prices are going to rise in the future or you’d like to know what your fuel expenses will be.

As a reminder, if you’re getting your propane from us and purchase a new appliance, we can get the following rebates:

  • $300 - New propane water heater
  • $250 - New propane fireplace
  • $250 - New propane stove or cooktop
  • $250 - New propane clothes dryer

In addition, you’re eligible for a $300 rebate if you are replacing a fuel oil furnace with a propane furnace or if you are building a new home which will have a propane furnace. Talk about sweet deals.

Another rebate available is $3,500 for converting your gasoline powered vehicle to run on propane. Both of my personal vehicles run on propane. Premier has got several crane trucks, flatbeds, service trucks and assorted pickups running on propane as well. It’s great technology and a real money saver. Plus, it’s better for the environment.

Have a great August and thank you for your business.

Whether you need help hauling this year’s crop to the elevator or are still looking to finalize your grain marketing plan, give us a call. Our knowledgeable staff is looking forward to working with you to make this year’s harvest as safe and smooth as possible. Our team will do their best to meet your needs and they always appreciate the communication of trucking needs and your planned delivery dates. As corn silage season concludes, it’s important to take a moment to recognize the dedication and long hours that went into securing the feed you’ll rely on throughout the coming year. We all aim to put up the highest quality feed possible, but in the rush of long hours during a short harvest window, it’s easy to lose sight of our true goal. Ultimately, we’re working to produce feed that is consistent, clean, and rich in nutrients. Once that hard work is done, the next critical phase is feedout. Here are a few key things to keep in mind as you move forward.

We had a good ending to our energy division fiscal year, so I’m glad I’m still here this month to write this newsletter article.

Since 2020, we have increased our delivery efficiency (gallons per mile) by 17.4%. We’ve also dropped the number of miles driven by 21% comparing 2025 to 2020. That equates to 66,776 less miles this year than in 2020. In other words, we saved about 2.7 circumnavigations of the globe, conserving over 13,000 gallons of diesel fuel we would have used to power our propane delivery trucks. Less diesel consumption means less pollution. Heck, we’re saving the planet without even trying.
