Spring is Near

We’ve all heard the old adage that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. This year it came in more like an overfed barn cat than a lion. It still has claws and will fight when cornered, but it’s really more content to just lay around all day on a window sill enjoying the sun.

For you homeowners, as you transition from heating your house to cooling it, it’s probably even more important to replace your conventional furnace filters once every 3 months. To make it easy to remember, always change your filters on the months of the solstice or equinox. The spring equinox is in March, so don’t forget. Also, if you have battery powered smoke alarms or carbon monoxide detectors, be sure to replace the batteries once per year.

I’m not calling this the end of winter, but it’s coming. If you call in for your propane, don’t be lulled by warm weather. Continue to periodically check the tank gauge so you don’t run out. A better solution would be to see if you qualify for free monitoring of your tank. Give your local Premier energy location a call for more information.

Since you may be able to get a shovel in the ground by the end of March to plant that tree you’ve been planning on planting for the last three years, don’t forget to give Digger’s Hotline a call before you dig. Digger’s will find all lines coming into the transformer box. Be aware that you may have to pay extra if you want them to find electric lines going to different buildings. For propane line finding, call us. We can send someone out to mark propane lines so you don’t have to. Be very careful digging around propane lines. A sharp shovel will go right through a plastic propane line with little effort. Don’t ask me how I know this.

Now is the time when our farming customers are working on their equipment so they’re ready to hit the fields in April. In addition to selling the best diesel fuel on the market, we also have lubricants and greases available.

Have a fantastic March and thank you for your business.

As producers continue to look for ways to save out–of–pocket feed cost, more attention has been given to a new technology: high oleic soybeans. To the dairy cow, these genetically modified beans provide the same benefits as standard roasted beans in that they are a great protein and energy source. The biggest nutritional difference between the two is that high oleic beans may be fed at a higher inclusion rate without sacrificing the butterfat premium.
