We began the month of May by distributing this year’s patronage and equity redemption checks at our open house events in Mt Horeb, LaFarge, and Westby. While the nice weather may have kept many of our producer members busy in the fields, we still managed to have a great turnout at each of the events. If you were not able to stop in to pick up your check this year, all remaining checks were mailed out by the end of May. If you were expecting a check and have not received it, please give our office a call.
In addition to returning $6 million in cash back to our members, posting successful financial results year over year has also allowed Premier to continue to reinvest in our people and facilities, support many agricultural and youth organizations throughout the communities we serve, and award thousands of dollars in college scholarships each year. These are just a few examples of what your cooperative does with the profits it generates to benefit its members, all while continuing to grow and add new members every day. It’s a great story to tell.
We also continue to make steady progress on our merger with Farmers Union Cooperative. Both organizations have been working through the important details needed to bring our teams, facilities, and operations together in a thoughtful way that strengthens service and creates long-term value for our members. In the months ahead, we expect to continue working through key steps in the process and will keep members informed as additional milestones are reached. It is an exciting opportunity for our cooperative, and we look forward to sharing more updates as the process moves ahead.
During the month of June, we will also finalize sending out our propane contracts and safety mailings for the coming heating season. With volatility surrounding the global energy markets and current contract prices similar to last year’s levels, be sure to choose from one of the contracting options we offer to lock in your supply and prices for the upcoming year. As Tim writes about each year, the peace of mind you’ll have knowing you won’t have unexpected price spikes next winter is well worth the few minutes it will take to complete and return a contract. If you do not purchase propane from us, or do not receive a contract by the end of June, please give our nearest energy office a call and our staff will take care of you. If you receive a packet in the mail, please be sure to open the safety information and share it with your entire family.
